Monday, July 18, 2011 NOT A GOOD WEEKEND AT THE RACES
It was not a good weekend at the races. We started 6th in our heat at Williams Grove on Friday night and ended up luckily getting to 4th and made the invert. In the feature I started 7th and the track was rubbered up so it was hard to pass. We fell back on the initial start but I was able to get back up to 6th before having a RR tire go flat when the red came out as we came out of turn two on the final lap. If it had gone green we would have been able to come home with a good finish but instead we ended up 13th. On Saturday night at Selinsgrove we started 3rd in our heat and finished 4th which lined us up 5th for the feature. When I set the car on the warm up lap I knew I was going to have to battle a very loose race car for the whole feature. We got into a wreck with the 71 but was able to keep going but without a functional front wing. On the restart a car got on the brakes way harder than I thought. My car did not steer very good because the front wing damage I got into the back of them and that ended our night. I think we ended up 19th. We have not had a DNF in while before this weekend and both night we did not finish so we are going to regroup and get ready for this weekend.
Tuesday, June 28, 2011 WILLIAMS GROVE AND SELINSGROVE UPDATE
Friday night a Williams Grove started our really good I started sixth in the heat and was up to second coming out of turn two. That start got called back because the front row jumped and I got another great start and was in third by the time we exited two. Then it went downhill from there I wasn't driving the car right and we were getting passed for fifth and I tried to turn under the guy who was passing me coming out of turn four and spun out. We then lined up on the pole for the consi and wound up second. Lined up 20th for the feature and got caught up in a wreck in one and two on the first lap. We restarted 22nd and were able to get up to 14th when the checkers fell. We had a pretty decent car but it was just a darn hard track to pass on.
Saturday at Selinsgrove we were not as good as we wanted to be all night. I started third in our heat and finished fourth. We started fifth in the feature but tried a set up in the car that we hadn't ran in a while. We were back as far as 15th at one point but I was learning every lap how to drive the car with what I had to work with. We were getting better towards the end and I was catching tenth but ended up 11th. I hate backing up like that but we rolled the car in the trailer at the end of night in one piece which is always nice.
Monday, June 13, 2011 RUTTKAMP MAKES RACING DEBUT AT PORT ROYAL AND SUSKY
It was a very up a down night for my first ever night seeing Port Royal. The car was on a rail in our heat race which we won and re-drew a one pill for the feature and should have started on the pole. We got a flat left rear tire before the race started and had to start last. I figured I didn't much too loose so I ran the cushion up near the wall for the first time ever. That was fun although it would have been interesting to see where we could have finished if I was able to start up front. They scored us in 19th but I passed four cars in one lap and atleast another for or five during the rest of the race.
On Sunday in my first race at Susquehanna Speedway Park I started 7th in my heat and finished 5th. Lined up 16th for the feature and ran the top for the second night ever and wound up 10th. All in all it was a good weekend becuase I learned a ton.
Saturday, June 04, 2011 RAIN STOPS RACING ACTION AT SELINSGROVE
It was quiet the night last night. We broke the W
link heim on lap two when I got into the 38 in the heat and ended up
7th. Started 4th in the consi and finished 4th but made the show. Then sat
through a long rain delay and thought we were going to get the feature in. Then
in rained again which postponed the show to june 11th. My mind went
through the game of we are going to race better get focused to we are
not going to race so I can relax now, a few to many times last night.
But I guess that is all part of it.
Monday, May 30, 2011 RUTTKAMP FINISHES 4TH AT SELINSGROVE
The
night did not start out very good for us but it ended up being one of the best
and most fun nights I have had. We were a disappointing 19th
fastest in hot laps. I started on the pole for the heat race and fell back
to fourth. Much like last week we were too loose and had little drive
up off of the corner. With the way that the night was going I was a bit
nervous staring 2nd in the feature. On the initial start I did not get the
start that I had wanted but there was a caution so it we restarted in the same
order. I got a great restart and jumped into the lead and led the
first 20 laps. The bottom was gving up and the battles
started. The 1s got under us coming out of turn 2 but I was able to get
back underneath Logan coming out of four. I was unable to
beat him to the line and the caution flew. I got a great restart
and passed the him getting into 1. I contemplated the flyer but
thought the track was too wide and he just going to get back by us on
the high side. It got really intersting on the next lap when Pat
Cannon stuck his car on the outside of us as I headed into turn 1. We
touched wheels pretty hard and from what people say I was about three
feet airborne. On the final lap TJ Stutts passed me and we ended up
fourth. Not bad seeing it was only my third race at the track.
I have been keeping my cars at TJ's and it has been working out great I am
learning a bunch on and off of the race track from him and his crew
Saturday, May 21, 2011 RUTTKAMP PICKS UP A SECOND AT WILLIAMSGROVE
Friday night at Williams Grove we started 3rd in our heat race and came in 2nd. Which started us third in the main. Luckily there was a caution on the first lap cause I got a terrible start and we restarted in the original starting order. We passed for 2nd on lap 3 and then went 3 wide for the lead coming out of turn 4 on lap 4 and came out it second and stayed there for the rest of the night and came home with our best Grove finish ever in a car that was operating pretty darn well! Saturday night was our first regular show at Selinsgrove. We started 7th in our heat and were not very stellar but still managed to make the show with a 6th place finish. We started 18th in the feature and was running in the top 10 by the half way point. But unfortunately we got caught up in a wreck that was not of our own doing. We brought the car back to the pits and thanks to our great team we replaced a whole bunch on bent and broken parts and was able to continue. We restarted around the 21st spot on brought the car home 15th. All in all we had a good night and I learned alot!
Saturday, March 26, 2011 STRONG RUN AT LINCOLN
Michael Ruttkamp drove a strong race and took third place at Lincoln Speedway. Michael started on the pole and held off 2009 Track Champion and eventual winner Dale Hammaker for the first seven laps of the feature Saturday night. Billy Dietrich was able to get around Michael following the 15 restart. Michael ran the rest of the race very well to secure his career best finish at Lincoln Speedway.
